Our Practice

Getting Started

The first step in helping you solve your relationship problems is to set up an initial 60-minute consultation via Telehealth.

This meeting is an opportunity for us to get acquainted, for you to share the issues bringing you to therapy, and for us to explain how we work so that we can all determine whether this feels like a good fit. The initial consultation is free of charge.

If we decide to move forward with therapy, we will then schedule your first couples therapy session.

Payment Methods

Payment is due at the time of service. You may pay using any major credit card, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, Discover, and Diners Club.

Insurance

We are an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance directly. However, we are happy to provide you with a quarterly statement you can submit to your insurance company. Many insurance companies reimburse for services with out-of-network providers. Please check with your insurer prior to scheduling if this is important to you.

Helpful questions to ask your insurance provider:

  • Do I have out-of-network benefits for therapy? If yes, what percentage of the cost is covered?
  • How many sessions are covered per year?
  • Do I have a deductible and has it been met?
  • For couples therapy: Do you reimburse for CPT Code 90847 (Family Therapy with the Patient Present)?
  • What forms are required for reimbursement?

How Our Practice Works

Therapy is a collaborative process and requires an active effort on your part. We invite you to share your questions, concerns, and feedback throughout the course of treatment. Your openness helps us tailor therapy to your needs and make the process as effective as possible.

Session Length and Frequency

After the initial consultation, should we decide to move forward with treatment, the first session must be scheduled for three hours. This extended time allows us to gain a full understanding of your relationship dynamics and create a clear treatment plan.

Subsequent sessions are usually two hours in length. Most couples attend therapy one to four times per month, depending on their goals and circumstances.

Both partners are required to attend all sessions, and we ask that you arrive on time to gain maximum benefit.

Couples Intensives

In some cases, therapy intensives can be a helpful addition to ongoing couples therapy. These may involve three to four consecutive days with extended daily sessions. If you are interested in an intensive, please call us to discuss scheduling options.

If you are traveling from out of town, we will provide a referral to a qualified marriage and family therapist in your area to ensure continuity of care after the intensive.
